Healthy Veteran Highlights • March 2025

Welcome

Dear Friends of the National Center for Healthy Veterans at Valor Farm,

Thanks as always for your encouragement, your volunteerism, your gifts-in-kind, your financial donations, your referrals of Veterans in need, and your prayers.  May you “Keep Up the Fire” on behalf of those we serve.

Our emphasis on PERSEVERANCE this past month was well placed.  Like much of America and many of you in February; we were faced with snow, ice storms, power outages, floods, extremely high winds, chilling cold, and flu bugs. I am amazed at the hardiness and resilience of our team as they continue the mission under all circumstances to change lives, rebuild infrastructure, and learn valuable Veteran care lessons which assist others in also helping our nation’s Veterans.

The good news is that Spring is just around the corner.  A little more PATIENCE (this month’s theme) is needed until that happens, however.  We need patience to wait until spring returns, or until health restores, or until a relationship is mended, or until a prodigal returns, or until your own difficult wait ends. It is really hard to be patient with ourselves, with others, and with the situations around us, yet patience (a fruit of the Spirit out of Galatians 5) pays huge dividends.  Proverbs 13:12 says “Hope deferred makes the heart sick (requiring patience to wait), but when the desire comes it is a tree of life” (worth waiting for, a superior outcome). If we impatiently pluck the seed out of the ground, the “tree of life” will never occur.

As a final exhortation towards patience and perseverance, our nation’s sixth President John Quincy Adams asserted the following:

“Patience and Perseverance have a magical effect
Before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.”

May this be so for each of us this coming month!

    Meet The Team

LU FACS 475 Class Visit – We were thrilled to welcome the Liberty University Families Under Stress class to visit the farm. This class has been visiting us every semester for the last couple of years, and we are always excited to educate our young people about the importance of what we do. We’re inspired by the next generation of students and their enthusiasm for learning!

Ongoing Village 2 Construction – We’re excited to share that all of our slabs have been poured! The first family home is now under roof with windows installed, while framing is underway on the second family home. Additionally, siding is going up on several of the homes. Things are progressing smoothly, and we can’t wait to see it all come together.

NCHV @ GAMVC – We had the privilege of briefing the General Assembly Military and Veterans Caucus in Richmond about the work we are doing. We’re so grateful for the state’s continued support and can’t wait to see where this partnership takes us!

Virginia Veterans Network – We have become a fully vetted member organization of the Virginia Veterans Network, which integrates us into a resource portal for Veterans all across the state.

Tunnel to Towers Partnership – We are thrilled to announce that Tunnel to Towers has officially welcomed NCHV as a service provider. More to follow.

The National Center for Healthy Veterans Referral Process: Expanding Our Reach Through New Partnerships
    – Aaron Blaine, Program Director

At the National Center for Healthy Veterans (NCHV), we are committed to serving those who have served our nation by providing a pathway to healing and restoration. Our referral process is a vital part of that mission, ensuring that veterans in need can easily connect with our programs and receive the support they deserve.

    How Our Referral Process Works
Referrals to NCHV can come from a variety of sources, including veteran service organizations, churches, community leaders, family members, and veterans themselves. To streamline the process, we have developed a new digital referral brochure, which outlines our services, eligibility requirements, and next steps for enrollment. This resource has been shared widely, and if anyone would like a copy, they can reach out to us directly.

    Strengthening Impact Through New Partnerships
We are also excited to announce our new partnership with Tunnel to Towers (T2T) as an approved provider. This collaboration allows us to extend our reach, ensuring that more veterans can access the holistic care and support they need. By working alongside T2T, we are strengthening our ability to provide housing, workforce development, and faith-based restoration to high-risk veterans.

As we continue to expand our efforts, we encourage our supporters to share our referral materials and connect us with those who could benefit from the NCHV community. If you know a Veteran in need or an organization that could support our mission, please reach out and help us make a difference.
