“City On A Hill”

What a blessing it was on Saturday to receive this beautiful painting from Angelica Smalley. We are honored that she chose us to be recipients and are even more thankful for the message and testimony behind it. Below is a portion of her dedication speech which details more about the meaning and message behind this beautiful piece of artwork.

“Many factors have played into what makes this day so special to me. As a veteran with PTSD connected to my service, I’ve experienced the true capacity this world has of evil and it’s capabilities of darkness. I believe everyone here has tasted some form of darkness-no matter how “small” -because of the fallen state of this world. Despite this fact of life, as believers in Christ, we have a calling that has been bestowed on us by God. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” In light of this command, God had put in my heart to bring this passage to life. The darkness will try to overtake us but we have the right in Christ to shine. In “City on a Hill, Pt. 5” the city shines in contract to the darkness. The citizens of this city receive their light from their King, who is Jesus, and they look toward the benevolence of others. This painting I pray blesses you and reminds you to shine your light.” ~Angelica Smalley
